Construction Update . . . Infrastructure Renewal New Reservoir, Pipelines and Water Treatment Facility We have almost completed one of the largest infrastructure projects in Breitenbush history; replacing our small, deteriorating water reservoir with a large, state-of-the-art reservoir that will meet our needs far into this century. This project also includes three new pipelines (one to feed the reservoir, one for fire suppression, and one for domestic water) connecting the reservoir to the lodge and a new water treatment facility. The reservoir and pipelines were essentially completed as of year-end 2012. In the spring and summer of 2013 the new water treatment building will be completed and grounds restoration will take place. Replacement of the Hydroelectric Flume/Penstock Pipe At the end of April 2013 we discovered that the 42inch pipe that carries water from the river to our hydroelectric plant was in danger of failure and needed to be replaced. The pipe runs across the plain down behind the Lodge. This is a matter of great urgency. Without our hydroelectric facility we are forced to use a diesel generator for electricity until it is repaired. Replacing the 500ft pipe is expected to take 5-6 weeks. We have decided to start the work immediately. The facilities affected the most are Spiral Tubs and Labyrinth. Update: May 1, 2013 Hydroelectric Pipe: Work on this pipe began on May 1 and will continue for approximately 6 weeks. A backhoe will be working on the project and occasionally there will be trucks driving to the area of the project. Water Treatment Building: Construction of this new building is scheduled to begin on May 20 and run for approximately 5 weeks. You can expect typical construction sounds. This building is in the vicinity of the Sauna. Grounds Restoration: Grading the grounds where construction has taken place and restoring vegetation will take place intermittently through the summer. This will involve backhoe and handwork. We will not be working on the weekends.
