October 5 - 7  Noah Levine
Breaking The Addiction to the Mind

Noah LevineBuddhism is a path to freedom from the suffering that originates in the addictive quality of thinking and the habitual reactive tendencies of our addiction to pleasure and aversion to pain. All addictions stem from these same roots. Buddhist meditation is a powerful tool often overlooked by people in recovery.

Noah Levine will bring together the common ground of the traditions of 12-Step and Buddhism as well as discuss the differences. He will also present a completely non-theistic approach to recovery that is drawn from the Four Buddhist Truths and Eight Fold path. Although this retreat is primarily for recovering addicts/alcoholics, alanons, etc, everyone is welcome. Therapists, social workers and health care professionals are encouraged to attend.

Noah Levine, author of Dharma Punx and Against The Stream, is a Buddhist teacher, author and counselor. He is the founding teacher of Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society, with a center in Los Angeles and over 20 affiliated groups around North America. Noah lives in Los Angeles.
