Uprising ‘08: Shaping Our Collective Future
Allies People to People Community

Uprising is a participatory project for personal and social transformation. The process is grounded in honesty, safety and openness. In this workshop we will address our struggles, hopes and dreams as we reclaim our true power to make the world a connected and supportive place for all life. This includes exploring how we are affected by and perpetuate social oppressions such as racism, homophobia, sexism, etc. We will work together to develop the aspects of our humanity that are socially denied by the roles we’ve been conditioned to play. Through structured sharing and listening we open up to our emotional selves, our connections with others and our greatest sense of what it means to be alive. In so doing, we will also work to be allies to each other’s liberation struggles in building diverse and just communities. Join us for this amazing weekend.

Charlie Kreiner lovingly led and nurtured this workshop for many years. Although he passed away in early 2007, the Allies community will be carrying on his commitment to having powerful workshops that are relevant to our lives. Uprising will continue to address the social conditioning and oppression that keeps us from taking leadership and living our lives fully and exuberantly.
