The Power of Bear

In this retreat we study the ancient traditions of Bear Spirit, found throughout Siberia, Mongolia, old Europe, Japan and North America into the present day. Commune with Bear as revered ancestor, protective mother, warrior, teacher of healing ways and shaman dreamer, through shamanic journey, meditations and ceremony.

We’ll explore the springtime landscape where Bear has walked for thousands of years before humans arrived here. We’ll offer a ceremony of renewal and blessing for the Earth as Spring returns, heralded by Bear’s emergence from winter sleep and the cave of dreaming. We’ll practice basic shamanic techniques that serve to restore our sense of empowerment and harmony with all our relations, the spirit realms and the Earth Mother.

Bring your rattle and/or drum if you have them, your journal, a blanket and something to cover your eyes.

Margaret Duperly, a resident of Breitenbush for 12 years, is an artist, craftsperson and shamanist who has trained with Sun Bear, Michael Harner, Sandra Ingerman and Vicki Noble among others.
