Breitenbush Fire Dept

Our Fire Department . . .

The Breitenbush Fire Department began operation in April of 2005 as a part of the Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat and Conference Center north of Detroit, Oregon along the Breitenbush River. In June of 2006, the department became it’s own non-profit entity to better serve the greater Breitenbush Canyon area. The service area includes the hot springs retreat and conference center and it’s 60 member community, 72 summer homes on U.S. Forest Service leased properties, two U.S. Forest Service Campgrounds, approximately 300 dispersed campsites, and the southern part of Road 46 between Detroit and Estacada. The department’s responsibilities include initial response for numerous types of incidents including structure and wildland fires, motor vehicle accidents, river rescues, and medical incidents. A large part of the community education program includes coordination of defensible space fuels reduction work each year to maintain a fire safe environment around structures.
